Tiger Mountain Bees: Beekeeping in Harmony with the Pacific Northwest

Tiger Mountain Bees has been working with bees for about 16 years and has just recently become an LLC, marking an exciting new chapter in our journey. Over the years, we’ve grown from a small, passionate hobby into a carefully managed bee operation dedicated to supporting healthy colonies and producing exceptional Pacific Northwest honey.

Tiger Mountain Bees LLC is a small-scale honey & bee producer so quantities are limited. Located just off Hwy 18 in the historic Hobart area nestled in the foothills of Tiger Mountain with a Maple Valley address. We sell locally raised nucleus hives, April through July. Locally mated Queens May through July. We source a few new Carniolan Honeybees in early spring to maintain genetics but our queens also mate with drones that in our area. Our primary product are Nucs, Queens, Wax and Longsworth starter hives.

OUR MISSION

To provide honeybees that are well-adapted to our local environment, supporting the growth and sustainability of the honeybee population.

My Love For Honeybees Began Long Before I Ever Owned A Hive.

I grew up on a small farm just outside Forest Grove, Oregon, where the rhythms of nature were part of everyday life. An old oak tree near our farm house a wild honeybee colony, and I spent hours watching them come and go, fascinated by their harmony, their purpose, and the quiet intelligence behind everything they did. Even then, I knew bees were something special.

Life carried me in other directions, college, marriage, a career at Boeing, raising three children, and building a home in Maple Valley. But that early wonder never truly left me.

Sixteen years ago, it found its way back unexpectedly, through an impulse purchase of my first hive. What followed were years of learning, setbacks, and perseverance. Beekeeping isn’t easy, especially in the Pacific Northwest, and success only came through patience, respect for the bees, and a deep commitment to doing things right.

Today, my apiary is home to around 30 hives, and beekeeping is no longer just a hobby, it’s a passion rooted in stewardship, sustainability, and awe for these remarkable creatures. Honeybees are superorganisms, working together as one, and caring for them has shaped not only this brand, but the values behind it.
